Goodbye, April, you mostly sucked!
Well, that's the end of the latest edition of 'Autism Awareness Month' or as I prefer to call it, 'Autistic Appreciation Month'.
What a rollercoaster ride it has been.
For the lows, I blame political leaders, the tabloid press, and other bigots. This Autistic LGBTQIA+ person does not appreciate your bigotry, and you all failed this month.
For the highs, I would like to thank my amazing friends, and the amazing communities and networks I am involved with (including the Professional Speaking Association and the Future is ND). The highs have been major highs, personally, but unfortunately not enough to cancel out my unease and despair about the lows.
During May, I plan to work less and play bass more, which is what I have been doing most of today. With trepidation, I am attempting to play bass in my husband Si's Britpop covers band, Snap Crackle and Britpop, and we have a local gig on Sunday 26 May.
Oh, also, I need to organise Ausome Charlie's presence in the parade at Birmingham Pride on Saturday 25 May. Email me if you want to march with us: Charlie@AusomeCharlie.co.uk
P.S. Trans women will always be welcome in my spaces!
